ICT for Education Leaders: From Vision to Reality

 

A Course for Policymakers Organized by World Bank Institute, Korean Ministry of Education & Human Resources Development and Korea Education & Research Information Service

 

 

Objectives

 

-            Build overall awareness of what is known about the impact of ICT in education, in the context of broader development goals and the knowledge economy and drawing on an international knowledge base;

 

-            Introduce key concepts in details, including leadership, institutions, public-private partnerships, monitoring and evaluation, and ICT integration at different educational levels;

 

-            Discuss strategy formulation and implementation through the use of concrete case studies and field visits;

 

-            Serve as an interactive forum for identifying challenges and opportunities, with an opportunity for each participant to get feedback on his/her country-specific action plan on integrating ICT into education;

 

-          Provide an opportunity for knowledge sharing and networking across regions.

 

Participants

 

31 mid to high level educational policy makers from 14 countries

 

Dates and Venue

 

The course took place from November 12 to the 16 (5 days inclusive), 2007. The venue is Sofitel Ambassador in Seoul, Korea. A number of field visits were the EBS (Educational Broadcasting System), Seoul Metropolitan Office of Education, ICT model school, KERIS, and KT (Korea Telecom).
