for Education Leaders: From Vision to Action¡¯

joint global course, ¡®ICT for Education Leaders: From Vision to Action¡¯ was organized
for the second time from November 17th to 21stThe course
is being co-hosted by the World Bank Institute, Korean Ministry of Education,
Science & Technology and Korea Education & Research Information Service
in partnership with Intel Corporation and The Economic Daily.
Invited to
attend were approximately 40 experts in education and policy-makers for ICT in
education from Asia, Africa, the Middle East and South
America. Participants shared their visions for ICT in education
policy to broaden the scope of educational opportunities and enhance the
quality of education in developing countries. Also included in the agenda was a
program for policy development and action plans. This course provided a
valuable opportunity for knowledge sharing by both Korea and the World Bank in terms
of reducing the growing global digital divide and working towards achieving the
UN¡¯s Millennium Development Goals through ICT in education.
In the era of knowledge
and information-based society, the importance of the connection between
education and a nation¡¯s development becoming increasingly apparent. The course
includes discussion of ICT in education policy that developing countries are most
in need of as well as global issues and trends regarding ICT in education.
Participants learned about cases of best practice in the field of ICT in education
from the National Teaching-Learning Center-EDUNET. They examined the current
status of research and development for next generation u-Learning as well as
visit NEIS, a u-Class, and a Digital
Textbook Pilot
School etc.
The course presented a
blueprint for policy-making in ICT in Education for developing countries and
strengthens future cooperative partnerships Korea and World Bank leading.
